Dr. Johnson completed advanced fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in Baltimore and the University of Florida College of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in Syracuse, NY and completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Johnson spent two months of internship at UF/Shands doing an elective consult service rotation at the Gainesville VAMC with Dr. Streiff, followed by an inpatient hematology/oncology rotation with Dr. Noyes. Later, he worked under Dr. Elfenbein in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. The positive leadership style and mentorship of these doctors led Dr. Johnson to pursue training in Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Johnson has special medical interests in leukemia, multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the treatment of solid tumors.
In his free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife Vanessa and his children, fishing, weight training, and maintaining his classic British car. He has five children, Adam, Matthew, Mollie, Leianna, and Casson. He has been active for many years in the Caduceus Society.
