Dr. Johnson completed advanced fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in Baltimore and the University of Florida College of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in Syracuse, NY and completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Johnson spent two months of internship at UF/Shands doing an elective consult service rotation at the Gainesville VAMC with Dr. Streiff, followed by an inpatient hematology/oncology rotation with Dr. Noyes. Later, he worked under Dr. Elfenbein in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. The positive leadership style and mentorship of these doctors led Dr. Johnson to pursue training in Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Johnson has special medical interests in leukemia, multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the treatment of solid tumors.
In his free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family, following the volleyball and soccer exploits of his daughter and attending Gator football games. He shares a passion for restoring, repairing, and driving MGs and recreational shooting with his sons, both of whom attend the University of Florida.
Dr. and Mrs. Johnson are active supporters of Gulf Breeze High School athletic programs. They are involved in many group activities at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
