The Haven of Our Lady of Peace is a 120-bed nursing home operated by Sacred Heart Health System and Methodist Homes for the Aging. The Haven's history goes back to 1939 when a brave group of Carmelite Sisters began caring for Pensacola seniors at a home overlooking Perdido Bay.
The Haven has enjoyed a reputation for decades as a place where a dedicated staff provides special care. In 2001, the Haven staff and residents moved to a new $10 million nursing home at the intersection of Summit Boulevard and 12th Avenue in Pensacola.
The new Haven has 31 additional rooms and is divided into four living areas or "neighborhoods." The new design eliminates long corridors and replaces an institutional look with a more homelike atmosphere. Each room opens to a common dining and activities area, and to a central nursing station.
"This is a wonderful facility for the elderly of our community, and we look forward to providing the same quality care that the Haven has provided for more than 60 years," said Sacred Heart President Patrick J. Madden.
