Sacred Heart Hospital provides a full range of sophisticated imaging services and utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), high speed CT scans, positron emission tomography (PET), ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine and new technology that combines PET and CT for diagnosis of cancer.
Sacred Heart is served by 14 board-certified radiologists at Pensacola Radiology Consultants. Ten radiologists specialize in various diagnostic areas and four specialize in vascular/ interventional radiology.
Our staff is skilled in neuroradiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pediatric radiology, ultrasound, PET and PET/CT imaging, mammography, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology.
In addition, Sacred Heart Hospital offers a new super-fast CT imaging system that will allow physicians to capture detailed, more accurate images of the heart, blood vessels and damaged organs - without surgery or an invasive diagnostic procedure
The new 64-slice CT scanner means Sacred Heart doctors have the ability to diagnose blockages in major blood vessels, including the coronary arteries, with a fast, simple external scan. In the near future, for some patients, the scan may be an easier, safer, alternative to a cardiac catheterization procedure.
Sacred Heart's imaging facilities include an MRI unit with an open design that can accommodate very large patients and those who become anxious when placed inside a conventional MRI unit.
Our breast imaging services are at provided through the Ann L. Baroco Center, an accredited mammography center.
Our Nuclear Medicine services include combination of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and CT, a sophisticated imaging technology which is being used at Sacred Heart to detect cancer at an earlier stage and guide physicians on the best ways to manage tumors.
Our Interventional Radiology services provide less invasive means to treat many problems that used to require surgery, including abdominal aneurysms, blocked arteries in the legs and neck, and uterine fibroids. These services are provided at the Sacred Heart Regional Heart and Vascular Institute.
In addition, convenient outpatient radiology tests are now available at the Sacred Heart Medical Part at Airport Boulevard.
